❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Does this handle summer and winter time?+
Yes, and this is the part most tables get wrong. Each session is defined by its own local clock — London is 8am to 5pm London time, all year. When London moves to British Summer Time the session shifts by an hour against every other zone, and this page follows it. Tokyo never changes, so the Tokyo–London gap genuinely differs between summer and winter.
Which overlap matters most?+
London and New York. Both of the largest centres are open at once, so spreads are usually tightest and movement largest. The Sydney–Tokyo overlap is the quietest of the three.
Why is the market shut at the weekend?+
Forex trades continuously from Sydney's open on Monday until New York closes on Friday — about 5pm New York time. Over the weekend there is no interbank trading, so the page marks it clearly.
Are these the exact exchange hours?+
Forex has no central exchange, so these are the conventional session windows most brokers and traders use: Sydney 7am–4pm, Tokyo 9am–6pm, London 8am–5pm, New York 8am–5pm, each in its own local time.
