❓ Frequently Asked Questions
How does color extraction work?+
The tool uses a k-means clustering algorithm on the image pixel data. It groups similar colors together and finds the average of each cluster — these become your palette colors. The algorithm runs entirely in your browser using the HTML Canvas API. No server involved.
Is my image uploaded to any server?+
No. Your image is read and processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript and the Canvas API. It is never sent to any server. The tool works offline once the page is loaded.
What formats are supported?+
Any image format your browser supports: PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and SVG. For best results, use a clear image with distinct colors.
Why do some colors look similar in the palette?+
If the image is dominated by shades of one color, multiple clusters will land on similar values. Reduce the palette count to 4 for a more distinct palette, or increase to 10 for finer granularity.
